nail polish mini quilt

Have you seen fatquartershop’s free pattern for a mini quilt featuring a bottle of nail polish? I love it! It’s so quick and easy to assemble, and it even comes with a youtube tutorial.

As a colour loving girl you hardly ever see me without polished nails. I really love red nails, so I basically used the same colour combination as shown in the sample. For the “polish” part I went with a chevron fabric in two red tones, which added a bit of depth to the design. (I’m pretty proud of my piecing and continuing the chevron pattern.)

I decided against taking “girly” pictures of the quilt with my (embarrassingly large) collection of nail polish, but took it outside for a walk.

I quilted it using straight lines in two differing widths creating a pattern of varied rectangles and squares. The binding is a Rosali IKEA print, which works great because the polka dots are irregular.

I’ve seen lovely quilts made with this pattern – like this quilt of 6 bottles by Bee In My Bonnet or this version in purple and mustard by quilt jane.
